Judge Ibn Ziyad studied at the hands of Malik Ibn Anas and took over the judiciary in Kairouan twice. He did not flatter the people in power. Once a man gave him wheat and he refused it, just as he refused a woman who came from the Emir's side. He left the judiciary and traveled to Tunisia where he died.
