Masoud seizes his siblings' land and refuses to hand Saber, his late brother's son, his share of the inheritance. He also seizes the peasants' lands.
Abu Zahra (Zahra's father) offers Saber to stay in his house and to marry Zahra. Masoud quarrels with his sister, Saadia, about the fact that she transferred ownership of her house and land to Saber. It becomes clear that Masoud is hiding his brother Hassan.
Assem threatens Youssef and demands that he leave the town. Saber confronts Assem and cooperates with Elhamy against his uncle.
Youssef is surprised when his personal papers and passport are stolen from his room. Masoud's men beat him, and Fadwa, Masoud's daughter, tries to apologize to Youssef for what her father did.
Saadia discovers that Youssef is her brother Hassan's son, but Masoud denies this and tells her that he is a fraud who has impersonated Youssef.
Abu Zahra teams up with Youssef against his uncle Masoud. The latter seeks to get Saber on his side so that he will not cooperate with Youssef and asks him to return to his old home.
Masoud tries to bargain with Saber, offering to give him his inheritance from his father in exchange for getting Youssef out of town. Saadia quarrels with Saber over his not helping Youssef and asks Fadwa to search for Youssef's papers in her father's room.
Saber apologizes to his aunt Saadia for what he did to Youssef, who reveals to everyone that he hid a box that contains proof of his and Saber’s right to all of Masoud’s properties, and everyone leaves the latter and he remains alone.
