Marvyn Korn, a former NCAA men’s basketball coach, arrives at Westbrook, a private high school for girls, to start his job that he was forced to accept.
As Marvyn tries to double the frequency with which the team practices, he clashes with another teacher at the school, whereupon he starts coaching the team off-campus.
With his daughter’s arrival in California, Coach Marvyn seeks to have the team move up to Division II.
Marvyn looks for a new player to make amends for past errors, as Harper’s video spreads throughout the school.
Kelsey informs on Olive and Louise who cheat on their test. Louise’s life is upended as her father gets arrested for embezzlement. Marvyn goes on a date with Maggie.
In the after math of her father’s arrest, Louise gets taunted in a game by the other team and its coach, which forces Marvyn to step in and defend her. Holly’s pep talk gives the girl a boost.
The bronze statue of Korn turns up, after which Marvyn clashes with Holly as she started practice when he was late. Emma’s party goes out of control.
As the girls have an upcoming game with a team they’ve always beaten, they neglect practice, but Coach Korn pushes them to concentrate on the game. After the star of the school play ‘Beth Macbeth’ has an accident, Emma and Harper audition for her part.
With the Sirens close to moving up to Division II, UCSB seeks to hire Marvyn to coach their team, to the girls’ disappointment. Emma clashes with Harper during rehearsals. The girls give Marvyn the cold shoulder on the play’s opening night.
With Emma’s performance stealing the show, Harper becomes jealous of her. As the Sirens’ playbook goes missing, they point the finger at Carlsbad, whom they have to beat to move up to Division II, whereupon Marvyn struggles to come up with new plays for them.
