After the death of author Scott Landon, his wife Lisey lives between grief and dreams of him, only to discover that he left behind a series of clues. In parallel, her sister Amanda suffers from serious psychological crises, and Lisey is exposed to threats from her husband's fan who covets his manuscripts.

As Lisey threatens Dashmiel with the police, he tries to cancel his agreement with Dooley. Lisey recalls the night Scott proposed. This memory helps her find the third and fourth clues. After he breaks into Lisey's house, Dooley leaves a dead bird and a threatening note.

Lisey uncovers the fifth clue and remembers her honeymoon with Scott and how he revealed to her his visions, his violent family, and his visits to Booya Moon. In the present, Amanda is stuck in the nursing home, while Dooley, obsessed with Scott's books, breaks into Lisey's house.

After he tortures Lisey, Dooley threatens to kill her and her sisters if she does not hand him Scott's secret manuscripts. After recovering, Lisey remembers her journey with Scott to that mysterious place and the long boy he feared.

Scott's brother, Paul, went mad and was killed by his father, and Scott buried his body at Booya Moon. In the present, Lisey realizes that the vision is about Amanda, so she takes the silver shovel and goes looking for her, while Dooley refuses to stop harassing her despite Dashmiel's warning.

Lisey goes to Booya Moon to heal, and meets Amanda, who wants to go home. She returns and proves to Darla that Booya Moon is real, then they visit Amanda in the nursing home and give her the water from Booya Moon and she recovers. The sisters agree to get rid of Dooley.

In a flashback, Scott dies due to his old wounds and the long boy prevents him from healing in Booya Moon. In the present, Darla and Amanda arrive home, and Dooley attacks Lisey and kills Officer Boeckman. Lisey takes Dolly to Booya Moon and summons the long boy to confront him.

The long boy tears up Dooley, so Lisey gets rid of his remains, and Scott's letter "Lisey's Story" reveals his secrets and prepares her to deal with Amanda and dangerous fans. Lisey gives the long boy the silver shovel to see Scott one final time before he vanishes into the water.
