After no one came to her birthday party, Carrie muses on men and the future. At an engagement party, Miranda talks with her buddies about being single. Charlotte attempts to come to terms with her breakup with Trey.

Carrie is hesitant to participate as a celebrity model in a fashion show. When a guy at the gym invites her out, Miranda grows more confident. Samantha decides to be photographed while naked.

While on a date with Big, Carrie encounters Ray King, a jazz musician. Trey and Charlotte reunite once more. Samantha visits Charlotte's gallery and meets Maria, a homosexual painter who makes her rethink her sexual orientation.

Carrie continues to go out with Ray, but she discovers that he suffers from ADHD. Miranda claims to have abstained from sex for an infinite period of time, with chocolates and television as her only alternatives. Samantha informs the girls about her relationship with Maria.

Carrie receives an invitation to the opening of Scout, Steve and Aidan's new pub. Miranda claims that she sees a ghost in her house. Maria is tired of the several guys Samantha used to know.

Carrie regrets breaking up with Aidan and tries to patch things up with him. Charlotte and Trey decide to start having a family.

After Aidan overhears Big on Carrie's answering machine, things between Carrie and Aidan get odd. Charlotte, on the other hand, decides to submit her resignation to devote herself to parenting.

Carrie turns down Aidan's help when her laptop malfunctions. As Miranda's mother dies suddenly, the girls show their support for Miranda at the funeral.

Miranda brawls with Steve as soon as she learns that he has testicular cancer but has no idea how badly it's affecting him. Meanwhile, Carrie is taken to Aidan's farm in Suffern, New York. Samantha is sick of getting asked every time by a date about her plans for the weekend.

Carrie asks Big to sit for a chat in Aidan's house to mend fences between them. Charlotte tries to talk about her and Trey's issues with having kids. Samantha applies for a public relations position with Richard Wright, a hotel owner.

Carrie can't decide whether to tell Aidan about the abortion she underwent at the age of 22. Charlotte finds that her chances of becoming a mother naturally are very low. Miranda discovers that she's pregnant with Steve's baby. Samantha tries to take advantage of her client, Lucy Liu.

Aidan asks for Carrie's hand in marriage. As Charlotte attempts to talk Trey into adopting a child, they reach a stumbling block when Bunny discovers that the baby is Chinese. Miranda informs Steve that she is expecting his child. Samantha has an affair with Richard Wright.

After Aidan moves into Carrie's place, they quarrel over the mess in her flat. Miranda goes on a date despite the fact that she is pregnant. Samantha and Richard strengthen their bond.

Carrie spends some time with a homosexual Australian shoe wholesaler. Charlotte and Trey decide to split up for good. Samantha expresses her feelings for Richard.

Carrie is afraid of getting married to Aidan. Charlotte enrolls in tap dance classes to escape loneliness following her divorce. As Miranda learns her baby's gender, she pretends to be happy about it. Samantha discovers Richard's philandering and asks him to be faithful to her.

Carrie is at a crossroads when she has to choose between purchasing her apartment back from Aidan or leaving. As Richard lavishes Samantha with gifts, she tries to get him to confess his feelings for her. Miranda and Steve struggle with the challenges of parenting.

Charlotte plans a baby shower for Miranda, but things don't go as planned when Miranda becomes irritated with Charlotte's attempts to make it overly sappy. Meanwhile, Carrie begins working at Vogue.

As Carrie is taken aback when she learns that Big is relocating to Napa, California, she prepares to bid him farewell. Charlotte starts dating a divorced man but is worried that things won't work out. Miranda's due date approaches. Samantha suspects Richard of being unfaithful to her.
