Hugh and Penny decide to come to the aid of a sick young mother. Meanwhile, Meryl gets Hayley to hide evidence of her crimes from Sharna.

Hugh and Penny begin butting heads once again after she comes back to work at the hospital. Sharna's plans to clean up Whyhope from corruption bring about problems for Ken, Betty, and Meryl.

Hugh's relationship with Sharna suffers when she threatens to close the hospital, and Charlie hatches a plan to solve Meryl's legal issues and help the family of Wes.

Hugh has to pick sides when Meryl sets out to ruin Sharna's career. When Ken's parents visit Whyhope, he reveals a dark secret.
