Will Smith, a gifted teenager from West Philadelphia, is sent to live with relatives in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles. Upon his arrival, he discovers how different things have become and that this is his chance for a fresh start.

Will discovers that he is not fitting in at his new school in Bel Air, and realizes that he will need to rethink how he adjusts to this new world, while the Banks family begins to adjust to life with Will.

Will gets along with his family and peers after attending Uncle Philip's "Black Fraternity" event, which helps him realize that his stay in Bel Air will be more sustainable.

The Banks family rallies around Uncle Philip to intensify his campaign for Los Angeles District Attorney. On the other hand, Will's past begins to catch up with him, and he finds help in an unexpected place.

Tray arrives in Los Angeles to visit his friend Will, and Will's loyalty to Philip is tested. Moreover, the Banks family supports Hilary by organizing a touching event.

The Banks family members put aside their differences and support Lisa when she hosts a memorial service for her mother at the mansion, and Will ignores his feelings of mistrust and frustration and joins the party for the sake of the family and Lisa.

Will and Carlton throw a house party at the Banks family mansion, Philip shows up unexpectedly at Viv's art event, but their relationship is rocked by mistrust, and Hilary stands up to Kylo after he posts a video of her without her consent.

As the Banks family celebrates Will's birthday, his mother comes to visit, causing unexpected tension, and the adults consider whether it's time to tell Will about his father.

The Banks family goes to church, and Will considers taking the opportunity to find his father, which unknowingly leads to a rift between Philip and Jeffrey.

Will's father suddenly and unexpectedly appears and reveals a long-buried secret, telling them the truth about where he's been.
