Sultan of Egypt

Present-day Youssef reveals that the paper is a letter from a Frenchman named Clement, in which he talks about Sultan Hamed and his battle against the French campaign. In the past, the Sultan and his colleagues resist the Mamluks, who wanted the Egyptian peasants to confront the French.

The Grinder

In his letter, Clement talks about the success of Sultan Hamed and his companions in separating the Egyptian soldiers from the Mamluk army opposite of the French, the victory of the French over the Mamluks, and the change of the village's name to Château Neuf, which then became Shatanouf. At present, Hamed seeks to find the rest of the shrines and letters.

Saber

Present-day, Hamed searches for the rest of letters with the help of Sarah and Farid and finds one. Luna and Frederic; the antiquities smugglers, come to Egypt in search of buried treasure alongside Massoud El Amrousi and find two. In the past, the French occupy the village and kill Saber in front of Sultan Hamed.

Vengeance

After Saber's funeral, Sultan Hamed and Nagi are determined to take revenge. They kill three French soldiers, and when the French general learns of this, he arrests Sheikh Selim and threatens to execute him within 48 hours unless he tells on the killers. Sultan Hamed decides to surrender himself so that no innocent person gets executed.

The Same Look

Sheikh Hashem and his son Omran betray Sultan Hamed, but the latter comes to surrender himself to the French so that they release Sheikh Selim. The Egyptian Museum

In 2011, we see the people in Tahrir Square on the Friday of Anger, the Muslim Brotherhood's plans to seize the revolution, and the gangs seizing the opportunity to try to rob the Egyptian Museum. In the past, the town awaits the trial of Sheikh Hamed, whose lawyer is Clement who is impressed by his courage and wisdom.

The Trial

The youth of the village plan to smuggle Hamed. The general bargains for Sultan Hamed to snitch on his accomplice in exchange for his life. The people riot on the day of the trial, so they save Hamed from execution and help him escape. In 2011, Sarah is staying in Tahrir Square while Hamed returns to his hometown.

In 2011, the president steps down. Hamed and Sarah confess their love. It turns out that Hamed's sister Mariam and her husband Moatasem belong to the Muslim Brotherhood. In the past, many villagers are killed by the French, and the Sultan and his colleagues take revenge on them, so the general intends to execute many of the villagers, including Sheikh Selim.

Nadeem

In the past, the general decides to execute Sheikh Selim if Hamed does not turn himself in within 24 hours. Hamed decides to surrender, but his comrades restrain him and prevent him. In 2011, army officer Nadeem, the husband of Hamed's sister Fatma, gets killed in a terrorist operation in Sinai.

In 2011, the MB fails to demolish a shrine of the sultan. Hamed meets one of the sultan’s dervishes, finds another letter hanging in his chest, and proves to him he's Sultan Hamed's son to give him the letter. Unfortunately, Abul Azm, El Amrousi’s assistant, sees them and learns that Hamed is searching for the sultan's secret.

The Hardest Test

Safya faces a hard choice as she must choose between her father's life and Hamed's. She cannot let her father be executed, nor does she have the heart to tell the sultan to surrender himself. In 2011, Abul Azm bargains with Hamed not to tell El Amrousi about Hamed's search for the sultan's secret in return for wedding him to his sister. Hamed refuses.

The Dervish's Dog

In the past, the messenger announces that Sheikh Selim will be executed, so Safya threatens Nagi to kill herself if he doesn't tell her where Hamed is. In 2011, El Amrousi asks Abul Azm to kill the dervish and bring the letter hanging around his neck, but when he tries, the dog by the dervish attacks him fiercely until he runs away.

In 2011, Hamed and Sarah take Abdullah the dervish to Hamed's house in Cairo to protect him, while Montaser agrees with Abul Azm to help the MB in the elections. In the past, Safya unties Hamed and he runs to save Sheikh Selim, but the latter gets killed, so he vows to take vengeance against the general.

In the past, Safya and Souad decide to join the resistance, and when the former sees Hamed's determination to obtain the head of the general in exchange for the head of Sheikh Selim, she tells him she'll consider this her dowry from him. In 2011, Abul Azm plans, under El Amrousi's orders, to kill Abdullah the dervish and steal the letter.

In 2011, Montaser's men rescue Hamed's mother from kidnapping. One of Abul Azm's men works as a spy for Hamed and the dervish on El Amrousi. Hamed discovers the love story of Farid and Ghalia. In the past, soldier Bouchard teaches the sultan's men to use weapons and they plan an operation to capture the general.

Peillon's Head

In 2011, Sarah fights with Hamed over hitting his sister. His grandfather tells him that he will wed Ghalia to Farid. Montaser plans for the parliamentary elections with the MB. In the past, Hamed and his companions succeed in entering General Peillon's room, and he decides to take him to Safya to take her father's revenge.

Hamed brings Peillon to Safya to take her revenge, but Sheikh Yahya tells them that killing a prisoner isn't retribution. As the French army learns of Peillon's abduction, Bonaparte comes from Cairo with many forces to find him and capture the Sultan and agrees with Hajj Shehab to make him the town chief if he brings him Hamed.

The Escape

The Sultan and his companions flee when Napoleon decrees that the fields of the Egyptians in the region get burnt so that they have nowhere to hide. Napoleon arrests many peasants to find Hamed but fails. In the modern era, El Amrousi moves the stolen antiquities of the museum to another place, and Luna and her men track him.

Hassan Toubar

In the past, a man called Hassan Toubar offers Hamed and his men protection and hiding and welcomes them to his land, while Shehab plots against them. In 2011, El Amrousi sends a sniper to kill the dervish, but the latter gives Hamed the letter beforehand, and the police come and arrest Hamed, Sarah, and Farid.

Reunion

In 2011, the police investigate Hamed on charges of killing the dervish and stealing the antiquities. Sarah comes out with the last answer. Luna and Frederick's men steal the antiquities from El Amrousi's hideout. In the past, Hamed and his comrades reunite in Hassan Toubar's hideout. Qandil convinces Salem to join them.

Farid is released, and Hamed and Abul Azm receive a one-year sentence. El Amrousi discovers the antiquities were stolen from the cache, and Luna leaves. In the past, the French discover Peillon's body and hit the village with cannons, so Hamed and his companions plan to blow up the gunpowder and ammunition stores in Shatanouf.

A year passes, and Hamed and Abul Azm are released from prison, finding Egypt ruled by the MB. El Amrousi allies himself with the MB for his benefit. In the past, Hamed and his companions detonate the ammunition depot and escape, and Salem takes spy Qandil to the sultan's hideout, thinking he wants to fight alongside them.

The sultan and his comrades continue their operations against the French. Yahya decides to wed Safya to Hamed and Souad to Bashar. In 2012, Hamed seeks another dervish to show him the place of Napoleon's gun which he saw in his visions and was mentioned in the last letter. He fights with his sister's husband Mutasem, who made the family house the HQ of his party.

The Wedding

On the day of Safya and the sultan's wedding and in the hideout, Napoleon decides to send his soldiers to bring Hamed's mother, and they shoot her, and Salem dies. In modern times, Hamed, Sarah, and their comrades participate in a sit-in against the MB. Abul Azm shoots Hamed, causing him to enter a coma. El Amrousi sends his men to steal the letter.

In 2012, Hamed leaves the hospital and starts looking for Ham El Tair to tell him the location of Napoleon's gun. In the past, Hamed hurries to see his mother between life and death. The villagers fight the French when Napoleon decides to hit the village with cannons until Hamed is killed, so the latter surrenders to him.

And So It Begins

The French kill Hamed, Nagi, and Bashar. Hamed's mother dies. The villagers bury Hamed with Napoleon's gun and build a mausoleum around him. It turns out that Safya is pregnant. The Egyptians launch violent attacks on the French, who decide to demolish the shrine and dump the body in the Nile, so other village find it and build another shrine.

His All-Knowing Secret

The French cut Hamed’s body into hundred pieces, and the Egyptians take it and build a hundred mausoleums in the Delta villages. Safia buries Napoleon’s gun with the sultan. The French leave Egypt. In the modern era, El Amrousi, Luna, and their followers get arrested. Hamed finds Napoleon's gun and gives it to the police. The MB leaves Egypt on June 30, 2013.
