Ali feels alienated from his wife, Maggie, who looks down on him and reminds him of the difference in their social and financial levels. Following the death of his father, Ali discovers a secret basement in the family home that takes him back to the year 1943.
Ali gets to know the postman Diasti, who believes that Ali is a freedom fighter and a member of the people's resistance. Ali discovers a dangerous secret related to the basement of the house, and that his father was married to the innkeeper, Dalal.
Maggie suspects that Ali is cheating on her, and the latter is forced to change his appearance to suit the time he has been transported into. He calls himself Omar and stays in the inn with Diasti, while the Jew Shalhoub tries to protect his family for fear that the Germans will kill them.
Ali gets close to Zeenat, who tells him that Abaza is threatening to close the inn and kick her and her mother Dalal out if she doesn't entertain the British agents. Ali decides to devise a plan against them with Diasti, while Maggie is distressed by the tension in her relationship with her husband.
Director Ficaldo offers Zeenat to work with him. Abaza suspects Ali and Diasti's involvement in kidnapping the English officer. Maggie takes Ali to a psychiatrist when he tells her about his participation in a demonstration in the 1940s.
Sabri helps Ali get out of the hospital. Diasti discovers the secret of the people's resistance. Zeenat is upset by Ali's absence for a while and convinces him to work with her in the theater. Dalal asks Diasti to help her search for Tohamy.
Ali performs magic tricks in the theater, while Dalal reveals to him how she met Tohamy. Ali's daughter Carla tells her schoolmates about her father crossing a time portal. Ali agrees with Sabri to auction the paintings so that he can earn money.
Ali brings Shalhoub sexual stimulants; Zeenat falls in love with Ali; Maggie asks Ali to take care of his daughter Carla due to her illness; Diasti falls in love with Ahlam; Shalhoub pushes Ali to forge paintings for Ragheb.
As Ali suggests to Diasti to send a letter to the girl he loves, he steals the painting. The British search for the freedom fighters at Dalal’s inn. Diasti quarrels with Shalhoub when the latter accuses him of kidnapping the English officer.
As Diasti asks for Ahlam's hand in marriage from her father, he scolds Zeenat for pushing Ali to work in the theater and leave the resistance. Sabri tells his neighbor, Heba's mother, about his mother leaving him when he was young to get married.
As Diasti disguises himself as a woman in order to meet Ahlam, her father harasses him until he discovers his true identity. Ali meets the child Shafei, and discovers that he is Maggie’s grandfather. He then confronts Maggie’s father with what he found out about him.
Diasti is upset that Ali deceived him. Shalhoub tells Abaza about Ali's relationship with Zeenat. Everyone believes that Diasti died during a demonstration. After his release from prison, Lamei is surprised to find his group has changed its line of work.
The lawyer tells Maggie's father that Ali owns the project land. Abaza reveals to Zeenat a secret about her mother and her many relationships. Zeenat tells Ali about Tohamy's bets in horse races. Sabri is sad when Nancy leaves him.
Maggie travels to the past and meets Zeenat, who is shocked to learn of Maggie and Ali's marriage. The latter explains to Zeenat what is happening and takes her into the basement. He reveals to Zeenat that Tohamy is in fact dead.
Ali takes revenge on Abaza and tells Jack on him. Ali discovers that Shalhoub and Abaza stole his gold. Diasti threatens to expose Ahlam’s father's relationship with a woman if he does not let him marry his daughter. Ali celebrates Zeenat’s birthday, but he goes back to another time.
