The journalist Sami refuses to accept Raafat's bribe to stop writing newspaper articles against Raafat's interests, and he succeeds in placing Sami in a mental hospital.
Magdy convinces Sami to return to work at the newspaper after he leaves the hospital, and the latter decides to do an exposé on the profession of begging and how some families force their children to beg and face danger to make money.
Sami plans with the young beggar Salim to have Sami impersonate a beggar and enter the world of beggars. Sami meets Abu Jawdat, who tells him the story of his son and wife and how they led him to be who he is now.
Abu Jawdat reveals to Sami that his son transferred ownership of his house to his wife, who began to control everything and devised a plan to put Abu Jawdat in a nursing home after seizing all his money.
Abu Salim (Salim's dad) quarrels with Umm Amer and forces her to beg in exchange for her staying in the room above his house with her son. Sami contacts her to find out her story, and she tells him that she was the daughter of a large restaurant owner and her life was easy until she married Shawkat.
Umm Amer continues her story to Sami, saying that after her father died and Shawkat went to prison, she was forced to work as a maid to support herself and her son, then she met Abu Salim, who helped her find a home and forced her to beg.
Umm Amer informs Sami of Abu Salim's proposal to marry her after her divorce from Shawkat, who comes out of prison and convinces her to return to him and promises her stability and raising their son together.
In a flashback, Umm Amer and Shawkat remarry, but his condition continues to deteriorate. He succeeds in proving that she worked as a maid in order to win custody of their child, but after a period of time, she finds her son begging in the street.
Abu Salim discovers the truth about Sami and steals all of his journalistic files and recordings, which angers Magdy. Sami is forced to leave the newspaper and return to his village, where his fiancée Maysa is.
Maysa asks her father, Hikmat, to support Sami in his problem and involve him in working on the farm. Sami meets Salim and tries to uncover his secret.
Sami marries Maysa, and the latter becomes worried when Sami imagines his grandfather being with him. Quarrels begin to arise between Hikmat and Sami due to his interference in the affairs of the farm workers, and Magdy returns to convince Sami to return to the newspaper.
Sami refuses to let Maysa have any children and becomes angry when he finds Raafat with Hikmat at the farm and believes that they are plotting against him, so he leaves the house and turns to Magdy. Hikmat insists on divorcing his daughter from him.
Magdy tries to convince Hikmat to allow Maysa to live with her husband Sami in the city to help him overcome his ordeal, but Hikmat insists that he is crazy and needs treatment.
Sami returns to work with Magdy at the newspaper and does an exposé, but his continued imagining of his grandfather’s presence and his talking to him strains his relationship with Maysa. Raafat gets Latifa to get closer to Sami.
Maysa receives an anonymous phone call informing her of the existence of a relationship between Sami and Latifa, so Maysa leaves the house and returns to her father’s house in the village.
Sami attacks Raafat in his office, and the former is placed in a psychiatric hospital, but he escapes. Latifa tells Magdy of her scheme with Raafat to come between Sami and his wife. Sami meets Salim and remains on the run from everyone.
