Bashir, a police inspector, doesn't have time for his son Adam due to the demands of his job. Bashir is asked to investigate the murder of the child Yassin, in which the accused was sentenced to life imprisonment. Bashir meets Raad to find out what happened to Yassin on the day of his death.

Raad tells Bashir his life story, the death of his parents in the Palermo bombing, his miserable life in an orphanage, and his arrest while he was with his fiancée in a café.

Raad is arrested and transferred to the military barracks to do his mandatory military service. Andrea gives birth, searches for him, and then travels. When he finds his sister tense about the case's reopening, Bashir reassures her about its outcome.

Raad tells Bashir the details of his participation in the Gafsa events of 1980 and how he was hospitalized. Adam secretly takes the recording of the case and listens to Raad's conversation with his father.

Bashir wonders about the secret of why his name is written on Andrea's photo and returns the camera he broke to the journalist Tamara, resulting in their relationship growing stronger. Raad is transferred to a mental hospital, where he stays for years, and Dr. Lubna helps him remember his past.

The prisoners try to kill Lasaad in prison after the lawyer visits him. Tariq, the nurse at the nursing home, visits Tamara. Monica manages to find her father, Raad, in the hospital. Raad asks for the hand of his doctor, Lubna, but she rejects him.

Bashir suspects his wife and quarrels with her. He falls in love with Tamara, visits her, and spends a night with her. Raad is released from the mental hospital and goes to live in a nursing home.

Bashir meets his sister and tries to convince her to forget about accidentally killing her son, Yassin. Raad remembers his journey at sea to Italy on an illegal immigration boat, and he remembers his friend's death because he forgot to take his medicine with him.

The relationship between Raad and Tamara grows stronger. When a woman dies in the nursing home, Tariq and Raad grieve for her. Raad remembers meeting Andrea after she became a judge.

Bashir learns from Tamara that someone has robbed her apartment. Raad remembers meeting Monica, who told him that his daughter had traveled to Tunisia to look for him, but the day he returned to Tunisia was the day his daughter traveled to Italy.

Helmy, the lawyer, visits Lasaad in the hospital and thinks of a plan to break him out. Bashir kidnaps Tariq and asks him to kill Raad within two days.

Helmy helps Lasaad escape from the hospital, and Bashir takes on the task of searching for him. Tamara apologizes to Tariq for accusing him of theft after her son tells her that Bashir's friend is the thief. She also exposes Bashir in front of his wife.

Raad discovers Tariq's attempt to poison him with injections, so Tariq confesses that Bashir was the one who incited him to do it in return for his silence about his selling drugs secretly. Lasaad tells the story of his arrest and the framing of him for the killing committed by Bashir's sister, Laila.

Raad reveals to Helmy what happened the day he was arrested, and Bashir remembers Laila telling him that she accidentally killed her son when she threw a stone at him, hitting his head and causing him to fall dead in front of Raad and Andrea.

Laila tells Bashir that her ex-boyfriend Mahmoud was the one who hit Yassin on the head, causing his death. It turns out that Bashir framed Lasaad for the killing. Raad meets Andrea, and she tells him that she wants to return to him.
