The film tells the story of a police detective, who starts investigating a series of murders, to discover that they are all linked to one mysterious woman. The film's star Fan Liao has won the Silver bear for best actor. The best actress Golden bear went to Haru Kuroki for her role in the japanese film “The Little House,” while Richard Linklater was crowned best director for his acclaimed “Boyhood.” Best screenplay prize went to the German film “Stations of the Cross.” The Grand Jury Prize went to Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel, while Alan Resnais' “Life of Riley” won the Alfred Bauer silver bear. The film's producer received the prize on behalf of Resnais. The Chinese film “Blind Message” received the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution for Cinematography, and the prize was received by the film's director and the film's blind female lead actress.

The screening of Nymphomaniac's director's cut was attended by the film's director Lars von Trier, and the film's cast, including Stellan Skarsgard, Christian Slater and Uma Thurman.

The festival will conclude on the 16th of February, and will hold several competitions, spearheaded by the official competition, in which 20 films compete for the Golden bear. Berlin welcomed filmmakers and stars yesterday, among which was Edward Norton, who stars in the opening film, and will attend today's screening of it, along with co-star Tilda Swinton, who was photographed by reporters the moment she arrived at the airport. The festival will be featuring Naji Ismail's Egyptian documentary “Om Amira” in the short film competition. The film will be competing with 25 other films from 22 different countries.
