He worked in the newspapers Akhbar El-Yom and Akher Sa'a, he also worked in Rosa al-Yusuf, then he became its editor-in-chief, only to be removed from his post after publishing an article criticizing President Sadat. He was also arrested and imprisoned for several years for objecting to the nationalization of press institutions.
