Jennifer Lopez is a Hispanic-American actress, dancer, entrepreneur, fashion designer, film producer, philanthropist and pop star. She was born in the Bronx, New York City, on July 24, 1969. Following a small role in "My Little Girl" (1986) and some stage productions, she got her first recurring role as a Fly Girl dancer on "In Living Color" in 1991, where she stayed for a number of years. The show provided a platform from which she could pursue acting roles in film productions, as well as music videos like Janet Jackson's "That's the Way Love Goes" in 1993. She scored the lead role in the Selena biopic "Selena" (1997) in which she sings the slain singer's classic hits. She earned a Golden Globe nomination for this performance. She then starred in "Anaconda" (1997), "Out of Sight" (1998), then released her hit debut album "On the 6." With the release of her second album "J. Lo" and "The Wedding Planner" in 2001, she became the first person to have a number one album and film in the same week. After two more albums, Lopez honed in on acting, starring in the romance "Maid in Manhattan" (2001) and "Shall We Dance?" (2004). She faded out of the music industry scene until she became an American Idol judge in 2011, when she decided to jump back into pop music with her hit single "On the Floor," her best-selling single to date. Lopez's romantic life has often been at the forefront of Hollywood gossip news: she dated Sean Combs (Puff Daddy), who accompanied her to the 2000 Grammy Awards when she wore her world-famous, revealing green Versace gown. She then dated heartthrob actor Ben Affleck from 2001 to 2003; they broke it off after getting engaged. They met in August 2003 while filming "Gigli," generally recognized as one of the worst films in history. Lopez has two children with ex-husband Marc Anthony, to whom she was married from 2004 to 2012. Lopez's recent film credits include "What to Expect When You're Expecting" (2012) and "Parker" (2013).
