Maryam Nouhy |
Syrian writer born in Aleppo in 1929. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Cairo University. He worked as a lawyer in Aleppo and held several jobs there before moving to Damascus in 1966. He kept working in government jobs in Damascus until he retired to pursue writing full-time. He started with poetry and then turned to short stories, articles, and criticism. His works were translated to French, English, German, and Russian. He was a founding member of the Arab Writers' Association in 1969. He founded Seville Publishing House in Damascus and published several works. He died on 26 November 2020.
