He is one of the most famous French writers in the history of modern France and one of the fathers of the modern short story. He was born in the palace of Meronmsenl in Normandia on August 5, 1850. He studied law and joined the French army and then worked as a writer in the navy. He met the famous writer Gustave Flaubert. through his family connections to later become his loyal student. Most of the characters he wrote are Norman peasants, Parisian bureaucrats, soldiers and sailors. He does not prefer a particular ending to his stories but he chooses the ending imposed by the reality drawn in the story. That is because his first goal in writing the story is to present a clear picture of what he saw with his eyes. He was the greatest painter of human frowns. He always had a headache and was writhing for hours in pain until he became mad in 1891. He died on July 6, 1893 in one of the clinics. |
