Egyptian novelist and screenwriter, born in 1978. He studied cinematography at the High Cinema Institute, and graduated with honors. His graduation films (The Wanderers - The Three Papers - On the Seventh Day) won prizes for short films in festivals in England, France and Ukraine. He started writing his first novel Vertigo in 2007. The novel's success led to its translation into English, Italian and French, and it was later adapted into a television series with the same name that starred Hend Sabry. His second novel Diamond Dust was published in 2010, and was also translated into several languages. His most successful work to date was his third novel titled The Blue Elephant, published in 2012, and won first place in Cairo Book Fair's sales for the year 2013, and was later adapted into the 2014 film, directed by Marwan Hamed and starring Karim Abdulaziz, for which Mourad also wrote the screenplay and was a box office hit.
