A Turkish director, born on November 18, 1960, in Kars, Turkey. In 1977, she finished high school and then went on to study architecture at Karadeniz Technical University. After she finished her master's studies, she began working as a film critic and then decided to enter the cinematic field, making her film debut, Iz (1995), which was shown at the 19th Moscow International Film Festival. Her other notable films include Journey to the Sun (1999), Araf/Somewhere in Between (2012), and Clair Obscur (2016). She received many awards and nominations, including the Blue Angel Award and the Peace Film Award at the 1999 Berlin International Film Festival for her film Journey to the Sun (1999).
