A Jamaican producer and singer born in Northwest Jamaica in 1936, as a producer and singer he was one of the pioneers of reggae music during the 1960s and 1970s. His production techniques influenced many musicians from other genres over the following decades, and he worked with reggae legend Bob Marley and other well-known Jamaican musicians. He also worked with artists from other countries such as Paul McCartney and won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2003 for his album Jamaican E.T. Perry dropped out of school at the age of fifteen and moved to Kingston in the 1960s. His albums include Africa's Blood (1972), History, Mystery & Prophesy (1984) and Repentance (2008). He died on August 29, 2021 in Lucea, Jamaica.
