Salma El-Sharkawy |
An American writer, born in Kodaikanal, India. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States. He obtained a degree in English literature. After graduation, he became an English assistant instructor at Pomona College. During World War I, he served in the US Army, and by the mid-twenties of the twentieth century, he had begun writing a number of short stories. Two of his stories were adapted into two plays: “Creoles” in 1927 and “Desire" in 1930, which were shown on Broadway. In 1932, his novel, Ride Him, Cowboy, was adapted into a movie of the same name. He is known for Escape to Burma (1955) and Ride Him, Cowboy (1932).
