Bud Spencer is an Italian actor, born in Naples on October 31, 1929 as Carlo Pedersoli. He started his activities as an Olympic swimming champion and participated in several Olympic tournaments, as he was a player in the Italian water polo team. He studied law and worked in cinema in the fifties and sixties in small roles in contracting films and did not achieve great fame. In 1967, he changed his name to Ped Spencer as a tribute to the international actor “Spencer Tracy” and formed a successful duet with his Italian compatriot “Terrence Hill” which resulted in 18 films that achieved international fame for them. He learned to fly planes and started an air transport company, then entered the field of ready-made garments, then returned to his artistic activity, and in 2005 he engaged in politics and joined Berlusconi's party and succeeded in the Italian Parliament. He married Maria Amato in 1960 and had three children.
