An Egyptian poet and writer and one of the founders of fictional and theatrical literature in Egypt. He was born in Cairo in 1892 to an aristocratic family that taught him about science and literature in the traditional Arab way; his father, Ahmed Timur Pasha, devoted his life to serving the Arabic language and its knowledge, and his aunt was the writer Aisha al-Taymur. He traveled to Paris to study law, but he returned to Egypt again after the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, and since then, he devoted himself to writing stories and plays and moved to Berlin to study medicine. He had no real inclination to study medicine or law and had a passion for literature, which drove him to travel to France. He mastered European literature in general and French literature in particular, and this study had an effective impact on his short stories. He held a number of positions, most notably as a translator for Muhammad Ali Pasha. He enriched the literary and theatrical scene by participating in the Association of Supporters of Representation. He presented social comedy plays, including the play A Bird in a Cage. He also presented a short story collection called What the Eyes See. He passed away on February 24, 1921.
