An American actress, singer and producer, born on March 28, 1955 in Oklahoma. Reba and her siblings learned music at a young age, and also learned to play on guitar. With the help of her siblings, she formed a band called McEntire's. She entered Oklahoma State University in 1974, and remained until 1976. Her first career goal was to become an elementary school teacher, and she continued to sing locally in her spare time. In 1977, she released her debut album, Reba McEntire. However, it was a failure, and did not achieve success. Over the next few years, she released several albums, but not one of them was successful. She finally hit success in 1984 with the release of her eighth album, My Kind of Country. In 1986, she released the album Whoever's in New England, which became her first album to enter the Billboard country chart. It was also her first album to be certified platinum and made her a music star. In the late eighties, she released her most popular and certified platinum albums. Two of these albums were certified platinum in the USA. She played the character of single mother Reba Hart in the American series Reba, which ran from 2001 to 2007. The program was a huge success and was shown in more than 30 countries around the world. Her portrayal of Reba Hart increased her fame as an actress as well as a singer. She has also had supporting roles in a number of feature films.
