American actress who was born in Tacoma, Washington, USA on September 16, 1922 as Donna Mae Tjaden. She won the Golden Laurel Award in 1960 for the movie Please Don't Eat the Daisies (1960) and received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. She married Frank Martinelli, Jr...Read more (1947-1951) and Arthur Stander (1956-1957); then she married musician Ray Gilbert in 1962 and remained with him until his death in 1976 and did not marry after him. Her most important works include Romance on the High Seas (1948), Silk Stockings (1957), and General Hospital (1963). From the age of 5, she sang in public places on local amateur performances. She moved to Los Angeles after graduating from high school and got a job as a singer in a Hollywood café during the years of World War II, and the café was frequented by many people. Then, she toured successfully across the states of America as a cabaret singer and returned to the cinema and played successful roles. In the mid-sixties, she turned to work in TV series and achieved success.
