American actor who was born on July 15, 1925 in Hackensack, New Jersey, USA as Eugene Joseph Carey. He married Maureen Peppler (1949-1972), they had 3 children, and then got divorced. Then, he married Colleen Welch from 1976 till his death and had with her 2 children.
Among his most important works are Calamity Jane (1953), Mister Roberts (1955), and Laredo (1965). He studied drama at the University of Miami, where he met his future wife Maureen Peppler. He served in the US Navy in World War II and the Korean War. He began his acting career in the fifties in Western films and war and crime stories, but he did not achieve stardom until the seventies. He began working on television in the late fifties. He died on February 6, 2009 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.
