Virginia Cherrill was an American actress, born on April 12, 1908 in Carthage in the United States. She was discovered by Charlie Chaplin while sitting next to him at a boxing match in Los Angeles, whereupon she starred with him in her movie debut City Lights (1931). Later in the thirties, she acted in sound films, most notably Girls Demand Excitement (1931), What Price Crime (1935), and Unknown Chaplin (1982). She died on November 14, 1996 in Santa Barbara, USA due to a stroke.
