British actor, born in Cheshire, England. He studied at Uppingham School , and in August 1918, he volunteered for military service and was sent to the front in World War I. After the war, he joined the Oxford Repertory Company and became an actor and director. He appeared in a number of films with his wife, actress Margaret Rutherford. |
