An American actor, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 15, 1882, as John Sidney Blyth. Among his most notable films are Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920), Grand Hotel (1932), Dinner at Eight (1933), and Twentieth Century (1934). John Barrymore is the youngest son of theater actors Maurice and Georgie. John was briefly educated at King's College School, Wimbledon, and studied art at New York's Art Students League.
