He received a Star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. He was married to the actress Jean Inness until she died, and had two children with her. Jon Jory, his son, headed the Actors Theater of Louisville, Kentucky, for 31 years before becoming a drama professor at the University of Washington in Seattle. Victor died of a heart attack on February 12, 1982, in Santa Monica, California.
