In the mid-thirties, Clyde had his own series of comedy short films, beginning an extended collaboration with Columbia Pictures. He also participated in Paramount's Hopalong Cassidy movie series. Clyde appeared in many western movies and became a naturalized American citizen in 1943. He also enjoyed a successful career on television, which he continued until his death in Los Angeles, California, USA, on May 18, 1967, at the age of 75.
