He continued acting in many movies after his family moved to the U.S. at the beginning of World War II in 1940. He is known for Fright Night (1985) and Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972). Among his awards and nominations, he received a Primetime Emmy Award, a Saturn Award, and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for Cleopatra in 1964. He was also honored with a Star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. He passed away on October 3, 1998 in Studio City, Los Angeles, USA.
