An American director and actor, born in Highland Park, USA. He attended a private high school in Germany called Schloss Neubeuern, or Neubeuern Castle. After attending Stanford University, he majored in political science. He worked in a bank in Chicago before joining the St. Nicholas Theatre, and then founded his own theatre company, Remains Theatre. Among his artistic contributions are his appearances in the film Stealing Beauty, directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, the film Thirteen, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, the film Twisted, directed by Philip Kaufman, and the film Traffic, directed by Steven Soderbergh, for which he won a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2001.
