An American director, born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He served in the US Coast Guard and studied journalism with author Alex Haley. Flynn earned a degree in journalism from the University of California and entered the film industry when director Robert Wise asked him to do some research to write a biography of Hungarian-American photographer Robert Capa. Flynn then worked as a script supervisor for the film West Side Story, second assistant director on the musical Kid Galahad, and the romantic film Two for the Seesaw, then worked as first assistant director on The Great Escape. He also founded a low-budget film production company and directed for the first time with The Sergent. He died in California, USA.
