A French novelist and playwright, born in Briouze, Orne, France, as Charles Auguste Bisson. The most prominent of the plays he wrote is Madame X, which he wrote in 1908, and it was adopted in many movies, the most famous of which are Madame X (1916), The Unknown Woman (1959), and Madame X (1966). He died on January 27, 1912, in Paris, at the age of 63. |
