A Palestinian-Jordanian director, photographer, blogger, and filmmaker who has won many awards. She was born in Jerusalem and lived there for her early years. She moved with her family to Jordan, where she studied Spanish. She obtained a scholarship in 2012 to attend the University of Granada for six months. Alaa Hamdan was chosen as a member of the jury at several international film festivals after she won several awards as a director, including fourth place at the Dubai Cultural Festival in October 2015 for her short film Under Construction, an award at the Istanbul Tourism Film Festival in 2016 for her film While in Turkey, and an award at the SILA Film Festival in 2016 for her film While in London.
