An American singer and actress, who started her career as an opera singer at the Goldovsky Opera Theater in 1962. She signed a contract with the Metropolitan Opera National Company in 1964 after winning two significant singing contests. She performed in two seasons of national tours with the company in 1965 and 1967. She continued to sing in operas throughout the 1970s, most notably Summer and Smoke (1971), which had its world premier at the Minnesota Opera. Later, in 1982, she recorded this performance for American television.
After her initial Broadway debut, she moved to musical theater and maintained her theatrical career in musicals. She made her film debut in Jersey Girl (1992) and then appeared in the series Law & Order (1994).
