An Italian singer, who became famous around the world for his opera performances. He studied music with the singer Arrigo Pola and the following year participated in the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. He participated as a member of the Corale Rossini, which won first prize at the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales. In 1961, he made his debut in opera in La bohème at the Teatro Municipale in Reggio Emilia. His first international appearance was in 1963 at the Royal Opera House in London, England.
