American singer, composer, songwriter, and music producer born Stevland Hardaway Morris on 13 May 1950. He lost his eyesight due to childhood health complications. He learned the piano at 7 years old. He also played the drums and the harmonica and sang at church choir. He was discovered in 1961 by Ronnie White who was scouting for talents for Motown Records and he signed him as soon as he heard him sing. Clarence Paul helped him develop his musical talent without focusing on one specific genre. He released his first album in 1965 titled Everything's Alright which was met with huge success. In 1966, he covered Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind" and starting 1967 he began collaborating with other artists and writing songs for them. In 2009, he was named one of the United Nations Messengers of Peace.
