He was nominated for an Oscar in 1937 as Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie Pigskin Parade (1936) and also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his television work. His most important works are: Bachelor Bait (1934), Pigskin Parade (1936), The...Read more Great Mike (1936), and Before Dawn (1933). He graduated from Porterville High School and attended the University of California, where he began appearing in local theater, and during the twenties, he worked on radio and as a voice-over in animation. He appeared mainly at Ebony Repertory Theatre, and in 1928, he began his cinematic journey by presenting the movie, Mother Knows Best (1928). He died of a heart attack in 1968.
