A Russian-American singer and actor, born in Lithuania, as Asa Yoelson. He received three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his film, radio, and song recording activities. Al Jolson married four times and adopted three children. Al Jolson's most important works include The Jazz Singer (1927), The Singing Fool (1928), Wonder Bar (1934), and The Singing Kid (1936). He was self-billed as "The World's Greatest Entertainer". In the twenties, he was the most famous and highest-paid artist in America and was the first music artist to sell more than 10 million copies. His film debut was The Jazz Singer (1927), and he starred in a series of musical films during the 1930s. Al Jolson was born to a Jewish family. He immigrated to the United States to work in the vaudeville theater in New York with his older brother, but he did not succeed. However, the Schubart brothers bet on his talent and made him appear in the opening show of the new Winter Garden Theater on Broadway in 1912. Over time, Jolson became “The King of the Winter Garden”. In 1927, his journey with cinema began, but he did not achieve great success away from the stage. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Al Jolson became the first star to entertain American forces abroad, and he continued to entertain the soldiers until the war ended in 1945. He later returned to entertain the soldiers in the Korean War. In 1950, he gave 42 artistic performances in 16 days, which caused his health to deteriorate. Shortly after his return to the United States, he died of a heart attack in San Francisco, California, on October 23, 1950.
