An Italian writer and director, born on February 22, 1930, in Genoa, Liguria, Italy. His works include Una bella grinta (1965) and Sacco & Vanzetti (1971). His daughter is costume designer Elisabetta Montaldo. Giuliano was a member of the jury at the 7th Moscow International Film Festival. From 2016 to 2017, he served as president of the Academy of Italian Cinema (Accademia del Cinema Italiano). For 5 years, he was president of RAI Cinema, a major film production company in which the films he produced were hugely successful at the box office, won awards worldwide, and shaped a new generation of Italian directors. His film Una bella grinta (1965) won the Special Prize of the Jury at the 15th Berlin International Film Festival.
