A British actor, born on December 23, 1909, in Beckenham, Kent, England, as William Maurice Denham. He was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best British Actor in 1955. He married Margaret Dunn in 1936 and remained with her until her death in 1971, and they had 3 children. His notable works include The Day of the Jackal (1973), The Alphabet Murders (1965), and Animal Farm (1954).
A prolific character actor, Denham worked on radio, television, stage, and in cinema. He studied at Tonbridge School, trained as a lift engineer, and played amateur rugby for Beckenham RFC. He gained fame as a radio actor in comedy series in the 1940s, and made his film debut with The Smugglers (1947). Denham died at the age of 92 in London, England, on July 24, 2002.
