An American film director, born in Grayling, Michigan, USA. He was educated at the University of Washington. He served as a fighter pilot in the US Army for two years during World War I on the French Front. He began his career as an animator during the era of silent cinema, before moving on to writing and then directing. He married Evelyn Ward (1926-1964) and she remained with him until his death. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 in recognition of his film activities. He's known for Remember? (1939), Coronado (1935), and The Twilight Zone (1961). He died of a stroke on January 27, 1964 in Hollywood, California, USA, at age 68.
