A British actress born Joyce Irene Phipps in Knightsbridge, London, UK. She was also a comedian, singer, screenwriter, and producer. She made her stage debut in 1939 and wrote satire shows for the BBC. Her film debut was on Adventure for Two (1943) followed by The Lamp Still Burns (1943). Other notable works of hers include Stage Fright (1950), The Happiest Days of Your Life (1950) and The Americanization of Emily (1964). She married Reggie Grenfell and did not have children. She died of ocular cancer on November 30, 1979 in Chelsea, UK.
