An Irish actor born Claude Austin Trevor Schilsky in Belfast, Ireland, UK. He made his onstage debut on the West End theater in 1926 then moved to New York to work in Broadway for the Rain Army company the next year. He was educated in Switzerland and was proficient at foreign accents. During the 1960s, he worked extensively in television series, and his final work was the series Whack-O! (1957–1972). His notable works include Lord Edgware Dies (1934), Dark Journey (1937), Goodbye Mr. Chips (1939), and The Red Shoes (1948). He married Violet Clowes. He died on 21 January 1978 in Suffolk, UK.
