An American film and stage character actor, born in Berlin, Germany as Heinrich von Kleinbach. His career spanned nearly 60 years and included more than one hundred films. He specialized in playing a variety of ethnicities, as he played Indian, Arab, Persian, East Asian, and...Read more Native American characters. He immigrated with his parents to America when he was an infant. He attended Stanford University for 3 years, studied at the famous Pasadena Playhouse, and worked in theater throughout his life. He made his film debut in the movie The Sign of the Cross (1932). He continued his theatrical appearances throughout his cinematic career, and in addition to film and plays, he had a long history in television series until he made his last appearance in the movie Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II (1989). Some of his credits include Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), The Searchers (1956) and The War of the Worlds (1953). He was previously married to Dolores Brandon (1941-1946), they had a child, and he never married after that. He died of a heart attack in Los Angeles, California, USA on February 15, 1990, at age 77.
