A French actor, born in France. His father, who was a sailor, died when he was two years old, and his mother disappeared when he was nine. He grew up in a boarding school in Paris. Before his cinematic appearance, he sought to join the French Navy. He began his career in small roles until he was assigned starring roles. He is known for Ciudad Baja (Downtown Heat) (1994), and Mon ami le cambrioleur (1950), and Angélique (1964).
