He provided roles of bartenders, mayors, shopkeepers, ranchers, and various hard-bitten town leaders. He presented The Red Mill on Broadway in 1945 and toured with the show throughout the country. He died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on April 15, 1964, of arteriosclerosis, at the age of 77.
