An American broadcast journalist, born on November 4, 1916 in St. Joseph, Missouri, USA. He served as anchorman for the CBS Evening News from 1962 to 1981. He was often called "the most trusted man in America". He reported on many incidents that took place from 1937 to 1981,...Read more including the Nuremberg trials, the Watergate scandal and the Iran hostage crisis. He was also known for his coverage of the U.S. space program, including Project Mercury and the Moon landings. He was the only non-NASA recipient of an Ambassador of Exploration award. He is known for Liberty's Kids (2002-2003), Cronkite Remembers (1997), and The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1974). He died on July 17, 2009, in New York, USA.
