American political scientist, born in the United States. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1963, obtained a bachelor's degree from Queens College, New York in 1967, and then a master's and doctorate from the University of Michigan. He is an expert in international relations, foreign policy, and nation-building. He is one of the founders of selection theory and was also the manager of the Alexander Hamilton Center for Political Economy at New York University from 2006 to 2016. He is best known for How to Become a Tyrant (2021).
